It's the Industrial Revolution, T-Virus style, when the BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance) tracks bio-weapon incidents to the nefarious Giesel Industries operating deep in war-torn South America. The corporation's factory is churning out monsters for fascist warlords and must be shut down. But the BSAA agents tapped for the mission quickly find themselves outnumbered, short on backup, and fighting mutations never seen before. Fortunately, they're led by two Special Operation Agents who have never met an infected they couldn't kill. Agent Holiday Sugarman brings brawn and experience learned on his bloody ops in the mountains of Asia. Agent Mina Gere brings the brains, technological knowhow and a quick blade. These two share one motto: Sacrifice the body to get the job done. Just make sure it's not your own...

Resident Evil collects together the 6-issue miniseries, as the dedicated agents of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance face off against Virus-spreading bio-weapons both in space and on land. The Joint Nations Space Station has gone offline; BSAA Agent Mina Gere investigates and is confronted by a crew of flesh-eating bio-weapons. Veteran mercenary Holiday Sugarman is sent to remote Grezbekistan; when his team is wiped out by G-Virus infected militiamen, he must face G-Prime - alone.

A good, solid collection, this graphic novel ticks all the right boxes for fans. It's got some of the classic Resident Evil monsters popping up to remind us this is based in the Resident Evil universe. To be fair this is a good standalone story which just happens to be based on the Resident Evil universe - it would equally work as a strong futuristic story in its own right.

Fans of the franchise will lap this up, but it's worth checking out even if you wouldn't normally pick up a Resident Evil comic.
