Far, far away, in a little mushroom village, live a group of little blue pixies called Smurfs who wear short trousers and white bonnets. Only as tall as three apples, they speak in 'Smurf', a language that only they understand. The Smurfs are carefree, peaceful creatures that live in harmony with nature. But they have a nasty habit of wanting to act like man, which causes them 1,001 problems...

Four Smurf-Tastifc Episodes contains four episodes of The Smurfs - one from the show's first season (The Smurfette) and three from the second season (The Good, the Bad and the Smurfy; Papa's Wedding Day; and All's Smurfy That Ends Smurfy.)

The Smurfette: This episodes explains the origins of Smurfette. She was originally created by Gargamel in order to bring chaos to the Smurf village. However, Papa Smurf soon figures out what is going on and uses a spell to make her normal.

The Good, the Bad and the Smurfy: Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy and Clumsy are captured by a wizard. The other Smurfs use Tracker Smurf in order to find their missing friends.

Papa's Wedding Day: An evil collector has made it his business to capture a live sample of every rare creature - he's just missing a Smurf. One of his captured creatures (a nymph) offers to trap a Smurf for her master. She heads off to the Smurf village and is soon accepted. Papa Smurf loses his heart to her and soon agrees to marry her. Will the other Smurfs figure out what is going on before it's too late?

All's Smurfy That Ends Smurfy: Gargamel finds the fairies hidden gold in the forest, but the Smurfs get the blame for the theft. Can the Smurfs put things right?

While there are no extras, what are you expecting for £5.99? Besides, how many children want to sit through an audio commentary or a featurette on the history of The Smurfs?

For the young, this is a great DVD.
