This contemporary adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic novel was created by Steven Moffat (Doctor Who, Coupling) and Mark Gatiss (The League of Gentlemen, Doctor Who) and the series stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes, Martin Freeman as Doctor Watson and Rupert Graves as Inspector Lestrade. This soundtrack represents collects together highlights of David Arnold and Michael Price's score for the show's second series...

This soundtrack is the follow-up to the music to series one, and represents 49 min, 34 sec of music (spread over 19 tracks) from series two.

The music for series two of Sherlock was composed by David Arnold (Die Another Day, Casino Royale, Hot Fuzz, Paul, Little Britain) and Michael Price (The Inbetweeners Movie, Hot Fuzz, Paul).

While I mentioned in the review of series one, that the music reminded me of Hans Zimmer's score for the 2009 Sherlock Holmes movie - and this is still partly true with this latest album - I was also reminded of Zimmer's work on Gladiator, especially on tracks like 'Smoke Alarm'.

As a collection, this is certainly more listenable than the previous album. There are less atmospheric filler tracks and more theme paced pieces. Overall, this is a much more impressive release and well worth adding to your soundtrack collection.
