Three American soldiers, the survivors of a helicopter crash in Afghanistan, struggle across the Taliban-controlled mountains. Injured and lacking food, water and medicine, they discover something far worse than enemy fighters among the sun-bleached rocks: an ancient supernatural power, murderous and unstoppable. Despite a timely rescue by a handful of British S.A.S. commandos, they're still hopelessly outnumbered by the shambling, ragged undead and the evil human intelligence that controls them...

Stitched: Volume One collects together the first seven episodes of the Stitched comic book series. Here we see a group of American soldiers stranded in Afghanistan when their helicopter crashes. Lucky to be alive, the group soon happen across the enemy, but this is an enemy unlike any they've ever encountered before. The dead, it would appear, have come back to life and there seems to be no way of stopping them... well, actually there is one way, but it seems so ludicrous. The dead are controlled by humans who keep the undead animated by shaking around what appears to be tin cans filled with stones. Stop the tin from making a noise and the dead become lifeless once again. So the mission is simple: stay alive long enough for help to arrive.

This is an interesting collection that mixes the sci-fi genre with more topical political events. If you're looking for something that little bit different then Stitched is well worth picking up.
