Benjamin Wallfisch's score for Hammer of the Gods is another wonderful collection of tracks from this talented composer. Unlike many working in his field, Wallfisch is not content to churn out the same style of music time after time. This is the third score of his that I've reviewed and is vastly different from his work on both Conquest 1453 and The Escapist. They're all impressive, but for very different reasons.

Hammer of the Gods sees him branching out in another direction with an electronic score that takes inspirations from the likes of The Prodigy and Skrillex. It's not a soundtrack that will be to everyone's taste, but it represents an intense listening experience that gets the adrenalin flowing. However, that's not to say that those who like conventional classical scores will be alienated; tracks like 'The Journey Ends' sees Wallfisch turn in some beautiful, mellow themes. The track 'Steinar Kills Hagen' very briefly reminded me of Martin O'Donnell's music for Halo 3.

I particularly enjoyed the vocal track 'Warrior (End Credits)' which closes this collection. The album contains 20 tracks and lasts for 1 hr, 2 min, 23 sec.
