MovieScore Media continues its search for unique sci-fi scores with its latest release, After the World Ended with music by London-based composer Nikolas Labrinakos. Written and directed by Tony Sebastian Ukpo, the film tells three interconnected stories set some 500 years in a distant, dystopian future. The storylines are focused on an astronaut who crashes in the middle of nowhere, a young woman in search of her family in an abandoned urban wasteland and a prisoner who is preparing for a dangerous space program that will make him the first human being on Mars...

Nikolas Labrinakos's score for After the World Ended contains 13 tracks (37 min, 01 sec) of electronic based, futuristic sounds. On first play through it has a very Vangelis-esque vibe to it. This is probably best illustrated in the track 'Civilisations'. However, not much grabbed my attention.

This is another one of those scores that is technically flawless, being perfect for the movie it was composed for. However, listening to this outside the movie, the music is way too atmospheric and slightly uninteresting.

So, while Labrinakos has delivered a perfect score for the media it was intended for, it doesn't really work as a standalone project - which is hardly surprising as it was never intended to be listened to in isolation.
