Lakeshore Records release Joseph LoDuca's score to Pay the Ghost, a supernatural thriller based on a short story by Tim Lebbon. The movie kicks off on Halloween night, when a couple's young son is mysteriously abducted. A year later, they begin to sense his presence in frightening ways. A string of terrifying clues draws them to search for the boy throughout New York, where they uncover ancient secrets and discover a vicious, vengeful spirit...

Joseph LoDuca's score for Pay the Ghost incorporates 19 tracks (1hr, 07 min, 09 sec). Given the movie's premise, it will come as no surprise to learn that the soundtrack is mainly composed of atmospheric, eerie music.

For the most part, this is a pretty by-the-numbers score, but there is the occasional moment that makes you take notice. 'Fun House' is a little odd and quirky, as is 'Obsessed / Find My Son / Graffiti Wall'; while 'Halloween Band #2' briefly features a marching band.

One of the most interesting tracks, 'No Time / I’ve Got You / Let’s Go Home', is also the score's most eerie, with its weird electronic screams and brief choral / orchestra appearance. In fact, there's segments of it that sound similar to Christopher Young's work on Hellraiser.

There are bits and pieces here and there that make this an album that's worth owning, but it's hardly an essential purchase.
