Varèse Sarabande releases the soundtrack to The Final Girls, featuring music by composer Gregory James Jenkins. When Max and her friends reluctantly attend an anniversary screening of Camp Bloodbath, the infamous ‘80s horror film that starred Max’s late mother, they are mysteriously sucked into the silver screen. They soon realize they are trapped inside the cult classic movie and must team up with the fictional and ill-fated camp counselors, including Max’s mom as the scream queen, to battle the film’s machete-wielding killer. With the body count rising in scene after iconic scene, who will be the final girls left standing and live to escape this film...?

For fans of '80s electronic horror scores, Gregory James Jenkins's retro sounding soundtrack to The Final Girls will bring a smile to your face.

The score contains 28 tracks (57 min, 25 sec) of electronic '80s-esque horror film music. It's pretty obvious that Jenkins is a horror nut and had the time of his life referencing some of the genre's most iconic scores (but without getting too close as to be obvious to which movies he was paying homage to).

There are also little flourishes of true originality, with some beautiful electronic themes ('Goodbye' for example).

Obviously this won't be to everyone's tastes. But if you're of a certain age (you grew up enjoying horror movies in the '80s) then you'll get quite a blast from this score.
