Silva Screen Records release Maurizio Malagnini’s magical score to ITV’s 2015 Christmas drama, Peter and Wendy. The show is a re-imagining of J.M. Barrie’s much loved classic novel Peter Pan. Written by BAFTA winning screenwriter Adrian Hodges and directed by BAFTA winning director Diarmuid Lawrence, the story is retold through the imagination of a young girl named Lucy who is about to receive hospital treatment for a serious heart condition. Maurizio Malagnini’s score for Peter and Wendy is a lovingly crafted homage to so many classic genres. At it's core there's the magical music of film composers James Horner, John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith, a sprinkling of classical music (most obvious in 'The First Fight') and several swashbuckling pirate themes.

In fact, I'd go as far as to state that this is as near as perfect as you could get to capturing the magical feel of J.M. Barrie's original tale.

The album contains 28 tracks (1 hr, 05 min, 59 sec). Personal highlights include the wonderful opening 'Peter and Wendy Main Titles'; 'Bedtime for the Children' (which reminded me of Horner's work on Casper; the piano based 'The Kite'; 'Tinkerbell Drinks the Poison'; Leaving the Hospital

This is a truly magical score. Malagnini is a genius.
