Lakeshore Records release Ulaş Pakkan's score for Baskin. The film follows a five-man unit of cops on night patrol who get more than they bargain for when they arrive at a creepy backwater town in the middle of nowhere after a call comes over the radio for backup. Entering a derelict building, the seasoned tough guys and their rookie junior, who’s still haunted by a traumatic childhood dream, do the one thing you should never do in this kind of movie: they split up. They soon realize they’ve stumbled into a monstrous charnel house and descend into an ever-more nightmarish netherworld where grotesque, mind-wrenching horrors await them at every turn...

Ulaş Pakkan's score for Baskin ("police raid" for those that don't speak Turkish) is a pretty interesting and rather intricate Horror score that, thankfully, steers clear of many of the genre's cliches.

The album contains 27 tracks (59 min, 32 sec) of music that goes way beyond atmospheric. Take 'Miclal', for example. On one level it appears to be a rather flat background atmospheric piece... but if you listen carefully it's incredibly disturbing.

Then there's the beautiful piano based 'Komi (Akif the Footboy)', and if you want a funky little Dance number? 'Dere Boyu Kavaklar' is here to make you smile and get you tapping your feet. 'Baskin' represents a more modern, electronic theme, whilst 'Keçi (Goat)' is both atmospheric and unsettling, and 'Anorig' is both eerie and beautiful.

While this won't be to everyone's taste, collectors of more interesting Horror score's will fall in love with what Pakkan delivers.
