Olivier Derivière's score for the game 'Get Even' is released through Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe. For those who have followed the composer's work in recent years (Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag - Freedom Cry; Remember Me; Supernova Volume 1: Through the Portal) you won't be in the least bit surprised to learn that once again he knocks the ball out of the park with this one.

The score contains 19 tracks (59 min, 16 sec) and opens with the beautiful 'Consequences'. On balance this is closer, in places, to classical music than it is to your average game score.

As with Remember Me, Derivière employs the occasional bit of electronic manipulation, which is incredibly effective at giving the music a futuristic edge. It's a weird combination that shouldn't work, but it does and wonderfully too.

Unlike a lot of music there are no low points; no filler material which appear to make the highpoints even more memorable. From start to finish Derivière weaves a beautiful tapestry of overlapping themes and sounds. 'Homicide Case' is notable for its many layers, incorporating the sound of a ticking clock and police siren - which on paper sounds like a bad idea, but works incredibly well.

If you're looking for emotive, beautiful themes, then you'll fall in love with 'We're Family', a tender, sweet track.

Derivière delivers a flawless, essential score for lovers of the game. In addition, anyone who enjoys incredibly emotional scores will also find plenty to enjoy here.
