WaterTower Music release the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to Warner Bros. Pictures’ epic action adventure Justice League. The album features the original score by Danny Elfman, who is returning to score a DC Super Hero film for the first time since 1992’s Batman Returns. The soundtrack also features a cover version of The Beatles’ 'Come Together' by guitarist Gary Clark Jr. and Junkie XL; along with Norwegian pop singer/ songwriter Sigrid’s take on Leonard Cohen’s 'Everybody Knows', and The White Stripes classic 'Icky Thump...'

Danny Elfman takes us on a trip down memory lane with his score for Justice League - as this is about as close to his score for Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992) as it's possible to get.

Elfman also gives DC fans some special familiar moments. Revisiting memorable character themes to tell the musical story, he incorporates and re-interprets iconic music from past films. Some may find it a little odd that he references his own theme for the 1989 Batman movie as well as John Williams's theme from Superman (1978). There have been several other movies based on these characters that reside in the same onscreen universe as Justice League. Personally, I loved it and it sent a chill down my spine, but some may question why themes from the more modern adaptations wasn't referenced. We also get a blast of Alan Silvestri's theme for The Avengers (2012) and Hans Zimmer’s Wonder Woman (2017) theme.

This album is more like Elfman of old. It is similar in style to Batman and Batman Returns. However, it seems to be mainly gothic action themes and atmospheric background music, rather than the more varied approach of incorporating beautiful music alongside what has become an almost cliched superhero epic theme approach.

The album incorporates 27 tracks (1 hr, 14 min, 22 sec). Personally I think Elfman has done a sterling job here. Sure it's a little repetitive and lacks any moments other than the standard epic superhero themes, but it does exactly what you'll be expecting - nothing more; nothing less.
