Vez’nan the powerful almighty wizard has returned! Embark on an epic journey as you gather his army and fulfil his devious plans... muahaha. Get ready to show the Kingdom who the real boss is! Fight your way as you conquer the new and the good old realms. Face empires of mighty enemies and clash against supreme bosses in this classic tower defence full of humour and epicness...!

screenshot"Yay! Just what the world needs! Yet another Tower Defence game," said no one, ever. But wait. Kingdom Rush: Vengeance somehow manages to take an old and stale genre and give it a new lease of life. This is helped greatly by the comedy elements and the fun cartoon style graphics.

The game is simple. Stop the waves of enemies trying to pass through your territory and... er... that's it. To help you in your quest you have access to a range of heroes and towers. Your Hero is the strongest character you have, who comes with their own range of abilities to help you slow down the enemy. The towers include defence structures which house a small army of warriors who stand in the path of advancing enemies and buildings that are home to projectiles that fling themselves towards any unsuspecting foe.

As you kill your enemy you gain gold, which can be used to build or upgrade any towers on the board. The game features 16 new towers, each with unique abilities and special powers; 16 stages across three lands; 9 powerful heroes; over 35 deadly enemies that will put all of your wit and tactical skills to the test.

screenshotFor me, part of the fun was progressing and unlocking new towers, as each comes with comedic dialogue and amusing extras. In addition a lot of the levels have hidden easter eggs where you have to tap on elements in the environment in order to gain bonus gem points. These gems can be used to purchase additional helpful weapons which are useful in the levels to stop your enemy in their tracks. This is also where the game's "pay to win" element comes in, as you can purchase gems for real money (various options are available ranging from £2.99 for 1200 to £99.99 for 70,000 - although you can get 50 for free by watching a video).

When you complete levels you are also given points to upgrade your hero as well as game elements (like respawn quicker or reduce cool down of projectile towers).

I found this to be an incredibly engaging and addictive mobile game.
