Varèse Sarabande release the Ghost Stories original motion picture soundtrack. The album features original score composed by Frank Ilfman. A debunker of all things paranormal, Professor Phillip Goodman has devoted his life to exposing phony psychics and fraudulent supernatural shenanigans on his own television show. His skepticism is put to the test, however, when he receives a file of three chilling, inexplicable cases: a night watchman haunted by disturbing visions as he patrols an abandoned asylum; an edgy young man involved in a hellish car accident deep in the woods; and a wealthy former banker visited by the poltergeist spirit of his unborn child. Even scarier: each of the these macabre stories seems to have a sinister connection to Professor Goodman’s own life. Will they make a believer of him yet...?

Frank Ilfman does an incredible job of composing themes that are deep and beautiful and then contrasting them with eerie, atmospheric background cues.

'The Allerton Suite' pops up in various guises throughout the 40 tracks (1 hr, 30 sec) which is the polar opposite of scare cues like 'The Yellow Dress'. Mixed in amongst the tracks are brief quotes from the movie as well as songs, including 'Why' performed by Anthony Newley and 'Monster Mash' performed by Bobby (Boris) Pickett and The Crypt-Kickers.

Personal highlights include 'The Allerton Suite', 'Maria's Theme', 'Corridor of Truth' and 'Goodman's Theme / End Titles'.

Overall an enjoyable and solid score.
