City building fans will love Before We Leave

For those that love city building game, you'll be right at home with Before We Leave. But don't let that put you off if you're new to the genre, because developer Balancing Monkey Games have seen fit to include an easy to follow tutorial. This tutorial takes you up to a certain point and then gives you the option to either start a new game and use the knowledge you've learnt, or continue the tutorial for as long as you want.

The game is set in Earth's future, where some unknown catastrophic event has meant that the surviving "peeps" have been living in underground bunkers for quite some time. Your generation is the first that has braved the overworld long enough to discover that it is, just about, inhabitable once again.

Build your settlement and unlock ancient alien technology

Your first task is to build huts for your peeps to live in. But then you'll need to build a well, fields to grow crops, a sawmill in order to collect wood to build structures, a library to research future skills... the list goes on and on.

The tutorial holds your hand through the early stages as you're finding your way around the menu structure. It doesn't take very long to get used to everything and, should you get stuck, you can simply highlight a section on the screen which will explain what your current objective is. You can pause or speed up / slow down time so that you don't have to wait for ages for tasks to be completed or to help you cram as many objectives into as tight a timeframe as possible.

Ensure the human race survives to see another day

Your little island isn't very big... so it comes as no surprise to discover that you'll soon be sailing the seven seas to repopulate long abandoned lands. And if you keep plodding through you'll soon be sending your peeps into space to colonise other planets.

It's a fun and highly addictive game and it's certainly one you'll be returning to time and time again.
