In Pinball Freedom you can go back to the future with their Sci-fi table or indulge in a tale as old as time with the Fairytale themed machine. With this first-person, single-player simulation you’re encouraged to channel your '90s kid as you compete to make it to the top of the leaderboard. With five uniquely-themed distinct tables, get in on the action...

The biggest issue is how dull and basic the tables are

If you're not a fan of pinball games then this isn't going to win you over. In fact, if you are a fan of pinball games you probably won't be that impressed. The main thing this game has going for it is its low price point, but then most Switch pinball releases seem to be fairly cheap.

The biggest issue is how dull and basic the tables are. Yes, they're original tables but they lack the attention to detail (which also equates to fun) that other games offer - most notably the Pinball FX series with it's reworking of classic and modern pinball tables.

For an introduction to pinball for the young player this may have some merit

The five tables on offer include Sci-fi, Fairytale, BMX, Skate Park and Chill Panda’s Adventure. And while each looks markedly different, sadly they all play identically. Just a couple of plays and I was already bored.

Graphically the tables are nothing special. It's a shame because with a little more effort this could have been an interesting game - the ability to wander around the room and look at the tables is a nice touch.

Sadly this is a bit of a missed opportunity. Maybe for an introduction to pinball for the very young player this may have some merit, but if you're a serious fan of the genre then this is best avoided.
