Sony Music Masterworks releases the soundtrack to Destiny 2: Lightfall, an album of music from the latest expansion of Bungie’s hugely-popular action MMO video game. The album features music written by a team of composers including Michael Salvatori, Skye Lewin, Josh Mosser, Michael Sechrist, Rotem Moav and Pieter Schlosser. Each composer returns to the Destiny universe after having scored previous iterations and expansions of the title, further building on the signature soundscape of the game’s galactic setting...

The soundtrack for Destiny 2: Lightfall contains 38 tracks (2 hr, 17 min, 03 sec) and, as you'd expect, covers just about every possible emotional and dramatic eventuality that the game will throw at the player. There are intense, melancholic themes butted up against epic, action segments.

There are so many composers working on this score that I was concerned that it wouldn't have a unified voice when listened to as a standalone album of music in its own right. Thankfully, and this could just be down to the order that the tracks are structured, but it does come across as a carefully planned score with a central core.

While it certainly has quantity, fans of the franchise need not worry about any quality issues. I don't think I caught a bad, or dull track here. Each track has a strong theme and there's very little, if any, filler material.

Fans of the series are being spoilt, as are collector's of epic game scores.
