Sony Music Masterworks releases Horizon: Call of the Mountain, an album of music from the PlayStation VR2 game by composers Alistair Kerley and Frankie Harper. Ascend the towering peaks of the Carja Sundom as Ryas, a disgraced former soldier, and unravel a new mystery surrounding the machines to redeem yourself and save your people. You will also meet Aloy, other familiar faces, and new characters along the way. Journey back out into the wilds like never before in Horizon: Call of the Mountain...

If, like me, you have been awaiting the launch of Sony's latest VR headset, it won't have escaped you that Horizon: Call of the Mountain is not only one of its launch games, but also one of the flagship offerings that has been used for months in the run up to the VR system's launch. The game certainly doesn't disappoint, and has clearly been designed as a showpiece for the new headset, showing off all the functionality the hardware has to offer.

As for the soundtrack... Well, nothing short of a soundscape that would compliment and heighten the beauty of the world in the VR experience would do. And composers Alistair Kerley and Frankie Harper certainly don't disappoint.

There are plenty of awe inspiring melancholic themes, as well as industrial electronic pieces like 'Red Eyes', which warn the player of danger. The album contains 41 tracks (1 hr, 38 min, 15 sec) and there are so many interesting themes here that it's certainly a score you'll get hours of listening pleasure from. One of the highlights for me was 'Ancient Calling' which, in parts, reminded me of Jason Graves score for the Moss games - which are another wonderful example of VR games well executed.

A wonderfully engaging score for a stunning, immersive game.
