One year ago, Batman and Robin disappeared from Gotham City. Before his departure, Batman chose a guardian to protect Gotham's citizens from the city's usual predators. Now, the dynamic due return to find that some of their most notorious foes are being brutally murdered - leaving Batman to wonder if the man he entrusted to carry on in his place has confused justice with vengeance...

Face the Face takes place one year after the events of Infinite Crisis. Batman and Robin have been noticeably absent from Gotham's rooftops. However, Batman has left the rehabilitated Harvey Dent in charge of keeping on top of Gotham's underworld. But when the dynamic duo return it looks as though Dent may be back to his murderous ways.

This collection examines how easy it is to cross the lines between good and evil time and time again. Not only is this explored through the Harvey Dent/Two Face plot but also, to a lesser degree, in Batman's confrontation with Bullock. Batman is not happy about working with Bullock because he was once a bent cop. But, as Bullock points out, that was a long time ago and a man can change.

It seems odd that Batman should so easily be able to forgive a master criminal and leave him in charge of keeping crime out of Gotham City, yet have such a problem forgiving a cop for making a stupid mistake in the past. But thankfully that issue is also resolved.

This is another mature Batman tale that won't disappoint the hard-core fans.
