Experience an unnatural level of psychological tension as you use your instincts and forensic tools to track down serial killers and bring them to justice. Take on the role of Ethan Thomas, an FBI agent, whose pursuit of relentless serial killers leads him through detailed environments filled with terrifyingly real sociopaths who lurk on the periphery of humanity. Features amazingly photo-realistic environments and true-to-life sound effects that transport players directly to the scene of the crime. Gruesome weapons can be fashioned by clever players from the environment: paper-cutter handles, wooden planks and lead pipes ripped from walls can all be used to attack opponents...

In Condemned you take on the role of Ethan Thomas, an FBI agent who is on the trail of brutal serial killers. Investigating a chilling series of serial murders, you must track your unknown murderers through tense and detailed urban environments, becoming accused of the very crimes you are struggling to solve turning from the hunter to the hunted.

At it's core the game is an unnerving psychological horror that forces players to rely on their own sharp instincts and a collection of sophisticated forensic tools to help them investigate crime scenes, collect evidence, and find clues that will inevitably lead them to the killer. Imagine CSI crossed with The Suffering and you'll have some idea where this game is coming from.

With danger lurking around every corner, only those that are quick thinkers will be able to stay alive in. By scavenging from the environment, players are able to choose between an array of close combat weapons such as the fire axe, shovel or crow bar - only by using the right weapon at the right time can you hope to survive the vicious onslaught from your possessed attackers. But it's not just obvious objects you can use against your attackers. At a push, a mannequin's arm comes in handy as an affective weapon to slap your assailants with. There are so many improvised weapons awaiting you that you'll never ceased to be amazed at how ingenious your environment is used.

There are a few ballistic weapons scattered around, but not many. And those that you do find have very limited ammunition. It's wise to use these sparingly, and get in close for the kill whenever possible.

While fighting is the main part of the game, collecting evidence and analysing it is an important component of your success. Keeping in contact (via PDA) with Rosa, in the lab, is essential - as she'll be processing all the evidence you send her.

Games don't come much more atmospheric than this. The graphics and sound are some of the best I've seen in a game of this style. And you'll need a spare pair of underpants - this is one scary game you won't want to play alone, with the light off.
