The grand tapestry that is the tale of the Seven Soldiers has woven together its major players: The Shining Knight, Zatanna, The Guardian, Klarion the Witchboy, Mister Miracle, Bulleteer and Frankenstein. Independently, each of these characters is featured in story arcs of their own that redefine their purpose in the DC Universe. But their stories have now come together in a grand climax, where the Soldiers must defeat a devastating global threat to mankind... without ever meeting one another. And before the dust settles, one of the soldiers will die...

The fourth volume in the Seven Soldiers of Victory series, and things are getting ever more interesting. This is not the place to start if you are a Seven Soldiers virgin, and I strongly advise you to pick up Volume One in the series.

This collection mainly follows Frankenstein (don't think you can trip author Grant Morrison up on the fact he calls the creature Frankenstein and not Frankenstein's monster - this is explained) and Bulleteer as they get on with their very own unique lives in their very different realities. For Frankenstein this means kicking demon ass all over the horizon, while for Bulleteer confronting her husband's killer is the order of the day. There's also the sad story of Mister Miracle, which is woven in-between the other story lines.

I loved the way Morrison balanced these two heroes stories - both are so different and together they make for an interesting combination.

Possibly the only complaint I had about this series, was that of all of the heroes that we meet everyone is going to have their favourite character, as well as those that they don't particularly like. With this being the case there is a good chance that large chunks of these graphic novels will be unreadable to some fans, while others will lap them up.
