Alone in his dorm on a Saturday night, Nekomi Tech's Keiichi Morisato dials a wrong number that will change his life forever - reaching the Goddess Technical Help Line. Granted one wish by the charming young goddess Belldandy - a wish for anything in the world - Keiichi wishes she would stay with him always. How is his mysterious new "exchange student" companion going to be received on the N.I.T. campus? A little too well for normal life to ever return...

Volume One of Oh My Goddess sees the origins of Kosuke Fujishima's entertaining series. While this was turned into an anime show (Ah! My Goddess) Fujishima's original manga still remains one of my favourite collections.

The story is simple, Keiichi Morisato is studying at engineering college. One night he accidentally dials a wrong number and gets through to the Goddess Technical Help Line. A beautiful goddess, Belldandy, appears in his dorm room and grants him his hearts desire. Down on his luck and feeling very unloved by the opposite sex, Keiichi wishes for the first thing that comes to mind - that a beautiful woman like Belldandy will stay by his side for ever. His wish granted, Belldandy is stuck on earth, and treats Keiichi as her master.

Keiichi is living in a boys only dorm and is quickly kicked out by his flatmates. An invisible force is in operation and ensures that nothing can come between the two. Spending so much time with Belldandy, who is the prettiest and sweetest woman he's ever met, Keiichi quickly falls in love, but has no idea how to make his move.

This collection also introduces Keiichi's sister, Megumi, who is looking to buy an apartment in the area. There is extra tension here as Keiichi is eager to find his sister her own place so that he can continue to try to make his movie on Belldandy.

For those who have not been introduced to the world of Japanese manga, this is a great place to start. And, for those who already familiar with the art form, this will make a welcome addition to your collection.
