The true enemy has risen at last, a shadow known by many names: the order of Rosen Kreuz, the Contra Mundi, the Enemy of the World... The new enemy has thrown both races into turmoil and the rift grows deep, for when the foe comes in friendly guise, allies will battle...

Based on a series of novels by the late Sunao Yoshida, which were subsequently transformed into manga adaptations, the neo-Gothic sci-fi adventure Trinity Blood is a 24-episode anime series recounting an epic battle between good and evil as bloodsucking vampires fight tooth and claw against emissaries of the Church with the earth as the prize.

Volume Three contains episodes nine to twelve:

Overcount I - The Belfry Of Downfall: The agents of AX scramble to prevent the destruction of Rome by a terrorist group who are planning to use the silent noise device. All the bells have been checked, apart from one - which was a gift from someone who couldn't possibly be involved in terrorist activities. However, as it's the last bell to be checked, Lady Caterina orders it to be examined - despite how rude this will appear. Could the Archbishop somehow be involved in all this? Meanwhile, Abel is unable to come to terms with the death of Noelle. Blaming himself he quits his position and turns his back on the Vatican.

Overcount II - Lucifer's Choice: Lady Caterina is held under house arrest after daring to suggest that the last remaining bell was checked, even though it was a gift from someone very close to the Vatican. The real terrorist shows his true colours and admits to Lady Caterina what a cunning plan is being set up to destroy Rome.

From the Empire: Abel is back working for the Vatican. He is dispatched to Venice and given a new team-mate - an agent of the Empire, Astharoshe Asran (aka Asta). Their quest is to hunt down Enderles Kudza, a vampire who is guilty of murdering countless humans. The relationship between Abel and Asta starts of incredibly rocky. Asta has a personal reason for wanting to bring Kudza to justice and she doesn't want a Terran like Abel getting in the way. While this relationship problem is resolved in a rather clichéd fashion, it's still an entertaining episode.

The Ibelis I - Evening Visitors: After a fire is started near to where Lady Caterina is staying, the rumours of a planned assassination attempt are taken as red. The Vatican's number one suspect is Ion Fortuna, Count of Memphis, a vampire who attempted to address Lady Caterina unannounced. Brother Petros, head of the Department of Inquisition, heads up an execution squad that is dispatched to kill Fortuna. But Abel makes a discovery that looks certain to shift the Vatican's focus elsewhere.

Extras are a little light. All we get are textless opening and closing titles along with some trailers.

Another top slice of anime action, despite the lack of extras.
