Za Frūmi create melodic mood music from a dark fantasy setting. The main theme is centred around a wayward group of orcs, and their adventures in deep forests and mysterious castles. Influenced by the Uruk-Hai and their language,
Shrak Ishi Za Migul is a series of albums that uses theatrical dialogue which is spoken entirely in orcish, the album tells the tale of a clan of orcs caught in their struggle against a mighty vampire lord...

The creative genius behind Za Frūmi are also the duo responsible for producing music under the Abnocto name - Simon Kölle and Simon Heath. While I admit to being no huge fan of their recent Abnocto release (Simon Magus) Shrak Ishi Za Migul: Chapter 3 is something different altogether. Probably the best way to describe it as a Tolkien-themed radio play in the orcs' native language of Black Speech.

This album is the third release in the series - which tells an ongoing story. But worry not if you haven't heard parts one and two, as you'll soon pick up on what is going on.

Now, to the untrained ear this CD could seem a little confusing. If you are expecting an ambient album to listen to while playing games or relaxing, you might get a bit of a shock. Those that want a music only soundtrack will probably not be impressed with the grunting voices, screaming, fire crackling and general thuds and bangs.

The result is a dark fantasy full of dark ambient music. The CD's 20 page booklet contains the manuscript with an English translation of the story. But to be honest I think the best way to enjoy this is to just listen to it once through and then read the booklet as you listen to it again.

There's no doubt that this is an original album, and one that certainly deserves to reach a much larger audience.
