In a quest to unearth a genius idea, Dave Gorman, with the help of special guests Johnny Vegas, Armando Iannucci, Chris Addison, Brian Sewell, Carol Vorderman and Sid Waddell pore over a pot pourri of plots, plans, inventions and scams sent in by Radio 4 listeners. Will they unearth some genuine gems of genius? And which pitch will will the legendary Genius trophy?...

This, the second series of Dave Gorman: Genius carries on in the same tradition as series one. Each week a celebratory guest must decide which of the new inventions that listeners from all over the UK have devised are pure genius, and which are pure lunacy.

Episode one sees Johnny Vegas faced with a number of contenders for the genius crown, including the science of opposites; and organising the audience at concerts by height so that everyone can see (unfortunately no one thought to mention that this would mean that friends and families would be split up).

For episode two, Carol Vorderman is offered a number of possible award winners, including making Bovril into a fizzy drink; transforming parking metres into gambling machines - with instant pay outs; and a great way of combating rising sea levels by banning children from throwing stones into the sea as well as allowing whalers to catch more whales.

Episode three sees Brian Sewell in the hot seat as he is given a handful of contenders, including setting up a premium rate phone number and then driving erratically in a van that has the phone number plastered all over under the words "How's my driving"; and a horse bike. There's also a great segment where Sewell admits how he once got rid of an annoying neighbour.

Next up we have Chris Addison who is confronted with virtual reality headsets for chickens so that battery hens think they are free range - and with therefore produce better eggs as they are happier; and socks to be sold in threes in case you loose one.

Episode five sees Sid Waddell, best known for being a BBC darts commentator who has to decide between perforated loaves of bread; a book of yawning; and a listening radio that allows you to skip annoying radio advertisements. Rather oddly Waddell leaves everyone speechless by claiming to be a Marmite pervert?!!?

And for the final episode, Armando Iannucci has to decide between large parachutes to help keep a damaged aeroplane in the air; a movie version of Tetris; and political philosophy to be known as the Contrarian Party.

If you've ever had an ingenious invention, a sublime plan for solving problems both small and large, or a twisted scheme for making the world a better or more interesting place, then Genius is the midwife to your brainchild.
