Collecting together tales from Justice League of America #37-60, all of the stories in this 525 page collection were penned by Silver Age writer Gardner Fox, and illustrated by Mike Sekowsky.

Indestructible Creatures of Nightmare Island was one of my favourite tales - even if it does briefly illustrate Mohammed ( I can feel a fatwā coming on). This story briefly touches on telepathy, astral projection, and the invention of a machine designed to change the will of a person.

The Missing in Action 5 collection of stories was also interesting - and took me back to my childhood. A giant dog, and the heroes wandering around in a world where everything is much larger than life, are just some of the elements that help to ensure that this tale is a winner.

The collection also includes the story Metamorpho Says No! - the first tale in the JLA's history that a superhero turns down a membership invitation to the JLA.

There are very few dull tales in this collection - although younger JLA fan will no doubt find the majority of these tales a little childish, as they were published in the days when comics were for kids.

At £13 for over 500 pages, this collection is incredible value for money. Sure, it would have been a lot better if the pages were in colour, but as it stands, this graphic novel will keep most JLA fans busy for quite some time.
