Booster Gold, the star of 52, is back. And now the time-travelling super hero from tomorrow must repair the timeline of the DC Universe if he's going to earn membership in the Justice League of America. But someone sinister is exploiting the ravaged time stream, hoping to eliminate the world's greatest heroes, and only Booster Gold can stop them... at a terrible price...

52 Pick up collects together Booster Gold issues #1 to 6 and the origin story from 52 issue #24.

When Michael Jon Carter travelled back into our time from the 25th Century, he planned to use his technology to become a hero - and to make a fast buck. But the 'hero' side won, and he bravely sacrificed himself to save Metropolis... or so it seemed. Plucked from the timestream at the last moment, he fought crime as disguised hero Supernova. But now he's the greatest hero history never heard of - travelling through time with the Time Master, Rip Hunter, setting wrongs right in secret - including fighting Sinestro, setting out to save Batgirl and Blue Beetle, and others who's future hangs in the balance.

This collection will not only be of interest to Booster Gold fans, but also to those who are familiar with the comics industry in general. In this collection Booster Gold has to travel through time preventing person, or persons, unknown from erasing super heroes from existence. Whoever is responsible is being quite clever about it. Instead of travelling back in time and killing the super heroes as infants, the assassin is targeting their great grandparents, people responsible for helping them develop their super powers or (in the case of Superman) those that would ensure that the super hero used their powers for good. So, the only super heroes that are safe are those whose secret identity is known to no one, and those that don't appear to be a threat.

With this in mind, Booster Gold has to reject his membership into the JLA and continue to pretend to be a bit of a joke, while in secret saving the future of mankind.

Gold meets up with plenty of familiar characters including Jonah Hex and Batgirl. In fact, in his attempt to save Batgirl from the Joker's bullet, fans get to revisit some of the events that unfolded in Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's Batman tale The Killing Joke. This is an excellent homage to the original.

This is one of the more interesting super hero graphic novels I've read in a while. There's certainly plenty here to appeal to all comic readers.
