When the imaginative and fun-loving elephant, Horton, thinks he hears a cry for help coming from a speck of dust, he discovers it is home to a miniscule city called Who-ville, which is governed by a neurotic mayor. Realizing that Who-ville is in grave danger Horton sets out on an exhilarating adventure through the Jungle of Nool to protect his new-found friends and save the day. Facing ridicule and obstacles along the way from his jungle neighbours, Horton is nonetheless determined to prove that "a person’s a person no matter how small"...

Dr. Seuss's classic 1954 book Horton Hears a Who! has entertained several generations of children and was also the inspiration behind a 26-minute, 1970 television special called Dr. Seuss's Horton Hears a Who! and the 2000 Broadway musical Seussical: The Musical.

Twentieth Century Fox revisit the classic tale for this full-length animated movie from the creative talent that brought us Ice Age. The movie features the vocal talents of Jim Carrey as Horton and Steve Carrell as the Mayor of Who-ville.

All the major plot elements of Dr. Seuss's book are present, with Horton hearing a faint cry for help from a tiny dust speck - which he finally manages to rescue by capturing it on the top of a clover. Establishing contact with Who-ville's befuddled mayor, Horton faces disbelief from his friends, and unwittingly incurs the wrath of an uptight kangaroo.

For Dr. Seuss fans there are plenty of nods to his universe, including many characters and contraptions lurking in the background including a brief appearance of some green eggs and ham.

There's also a segment that pays homage to the original artwork, as well as a spoof on the Japanese anime style of animation.

Extras include Ice Age Short: Surviving Sid (8 min, 39 sec) and trailers for other releases.

Horton Hears a Who! is a great movie that will keep kids and adults entertained for the entire duration.
