The Warner Bros/ABC sci-fi series Invasion, which created a strong fan base during its single season 2005-2006, features a large orchestral score that is worthy of any big blockbuster feature film. Composer team Jon Ehrlich and Jason Derlatka, who were Emmy-nominated for their work on CBS’ series The Agency, create a chilling and highly dramatic, but still melodic and thematically rich score for Invasion...

For those unfamiliar with the TV series, Invasion was a sci-fi show that only ran for one season, starting in September 2005. The series was similar in theme to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and followed a small community that became threatened when water based creatures began to take over their bodies of people - the creatures arriving on the scene following a recent hurricane.

Due to bad timing, the series started production just before Hurricane Katrina, and the first episode had to be broadcast with a warning that it contained images of a hurricane that some viewers might find unsettling.

For the soundtrack, the duo responsible for the music for The Agency were employed. Jon Ehrlich and Jason Derlatka bring some interesting themes to the show, but to be honest there's more atmospheric music here than there are more memorable standalone tracks.

My personal favourites include 'Mariel Swims / They've Lost Their Mother' (the opening to which sounds very reminiscent of Benjamin Bartlett's 'Giant of the Skies' from the BBC's Walking with Dinosaurs TV series); 'Last Moments' and 'Full Circle'.

While there isn't a bad track on here, some may find that there are few too tracks that will make you sit up and take notice.

Whether you are a fan of the series, or have never seen an episode, the soundtrack is certainly worth checking out.
