Out the Black way
(23/11/04)

Dear Johnny Fanboy,

In the episode Via Dolorosa, the penultimate episode of the third and final season of Millennium, the opening scene sees Frank Black and his daughter running down a corridor. It looks like a school corridor (with lockers etc) and a woman appears behind them and shouts: "Mr Black! You can't just take her!" So it is assumed that Frank is taking his daughter out of school without permission.

However, if that is the case, then why is there a sign that indicates the way they have come from is actually the exit? As Frank heads away from the sign, he is heading in the wrong direction if he wants to leave the building!

Johnny Fanboy replies:

Perhaps Frank knows of another way in/out of the building, and is deliberately avoiding the main exit to improve his chances of leaving without being intercepted.

Alternatively, maybe he just doesn't see the exit sign. (It is in the background, mostly out of shot or out of focus, so we as an audience were not supposed to see it either.) Evidently Frank makes it out of the building eventually, but who's to say that he gets it right first time!
