Hoodlum on the hood
(26/01/05)

Dear Johnny Fanboy,

While watching the movie Dark Angel, I noticed that the continuity between the movie and the James Cameron TV series is rubbish! The characters and settings are completely different, and the TV show makes no references back to the movie at all.

Only joking! I know that the movie and TV series have nothing whatsoever to do with each other. Seriously though...

When the drug-running alien is escaping from the alien cop in a car park, why does he jump on to the bonnets of the cars and then run from one car to the next? This means he actually runs slower and is an easier target, and the only reason why he should do this is that it looks cool. So why does the alien villain give the cop so much of a chance to hit him?

Peter Gray

Johnny Fanboy replies:

Hmm yes, I think there are also at least three completely unrelated novels all called Dark Angel, making it one of the least imaginative titles ever. But back to your car park question...

I would suggest that, on the aliens' planet, people aren't very good at aiming upwards, therefore the drug runner naturally assumes that it would be safer to run along the tops of the cars. This seems to work too - note that in the film the cop is a terrible shot!
