The inner workings of the universe's most famous starship - the USS Enterprise NCC 1701A - are now collected in one book, aided by the log books of Chief Engineer Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott...

Oh Dear. What could have been a rather fun book is sadly way off the mark. Mr Scott's Guide to the Enterprise was first published in 1987. Now I don't know what, if anything, has been updated in this reprint, but it still looks very much like a cheap 1980's book.

The reprints of all of the black and white photographs used is appalling - and I mean really, really bad. First off they are too dark and secondly they look like someone has run off copies on a photocopier.

Then there is the content - not humorous enough to be appealing to anyone but anoraks! And why on earth is there two pages devoted to typefaces?

The whole book looks like an amateur put it together in a weekend. I was astounded that Titan Books let this one on the shelves with their name plastered all over it.

Expect to see this in the "3 for £5" bin in your local remainder bookstore soon.
