The Halliwell sisters are no strangers to Halloween hijinks. But this year, the Wiccan celebration of Samhain is met with a rash of destruction throughout the city. Upon further investigation, the Charmed Ones learn that the demolished buildings they've heard about are actually melting. These sites are in fact the location of dimensional portals, and they're under attack. Piper, Phoebe and Paige will need to secure these barriers in order to prevent all havoc from being released. But the demon working against them is no ordinary monster; it's a wraith, the product of a grief- stricken young witch seeking to resurrect her lost love. And hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...

Between Worlds gets off to a good start with the mysterious C.K. Piers mourning the passing of her deceased lover. So depressed is she that she is about to cast a spell to restore a riven heart - but is that wise? It's not long before the Halliwell sisters are dragged into the events to try to save mankind again.

While not very original - 'broken hearted individual sets off to vent their anger on anything that gets in their way' stories have been done to death - this book attempts to breath new life into a well worn format. And it very nearly achieves it as well. Sadly, you can see the ending coming from a mile off, which is a little disappointing.

It is also released at the beginning of November, but the theme of this book would have made for better reading throughout October - what with Halloween being in that month.

In all other aspects this is a well written novel, and certainly one that Charmed fans will love.
