Luke Skywalker and his wife, Mara, receive a strange message from a surprising source: Nirauan, the planet where Thrawn, dangerous disciple of Emperor Palpatine, once held sway. The message instructs them to go to collect the remains of the mysterious Outbound Flight Project - a pioneering Jedi expedition, destroyed by Grand Admiral Thrawn 50 years earlier. But there is more than meets the eye with this unexpected gift. Onboard one of the remnant ships, someone is still alive, and they are not interested in visitors...

The Skywalker's marriage is still in its infancy (although some would argue that three years is a lifetime) and the two are still getting to grips with their coupling. In fact, finding quality time together is something which doesn't come easily - due to the numerous demands of duty. So surely a long, quiet trip together would be welcomed.

Sadly, this trip looks like it will be anything but quiet. Venturing into the treacherous cluster of stars where thousands aboard the doomed Outbound Flight vessel met their end is sure to rake up ghosts of the past.

Survivor's Quest sees the Skywalker's discover that there is at least one impostor accompanying them on their journey, and it is not long before suspicion terror and covert behaviour take hold of the isolated ship.

Timothy Zahn weaves a chilling, nail biting edition to the Star Wars stable. Those disenchanted with The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones should pick up a copy of Survivor's Quest. I also loved Steven D. Anderson's cover - he's really captured the beauty of Mara.

The beauty of this book is that it not just another Star Wars novel - change the character's names and situations and this could be a mass market suspense novel. Zahn's obvious knowledge of horror movies is also another benefit - claustrophobic settings are always a winner.
