Ever since they were driven from their homelands by the Adversary, the non-human Fables have been living on the Farm - a vast property in upstate New York that keeps them hidden from the prying eyes of the mundane world. But now, after hundreds of years of isolation, the Farm is seething with revolution fanned by the inflammatory rhetoric of Goldilocks and the three bears as well as the three little pigs. And when Snow White and her sister Rose Red stumble upon their plan to liberate the homelands, the commissars of the Farm are ready to silence them - by any means necessary...

Animal Farm is the latest in the Fables collection of graphic novels from Titan Publishing. And what a ride they've got waiting for fans of the series. Sisters Snow White and Rose Red go home for the yearly visit only to find there are plans of a rebellion - the inhabitants of Fabletown want to take over the world.

All your favourite nursery rhyme and fairytale characters are present and correct including Goldilocks and the three bears (be prepared to discover something very unnatural about their relationship) the old woman who lived in a shoe, Big Bad Wolf and the three little pigs, Snow White and Little Boy Blue.

The artwork in this collection is wonderfully illustrated and the storyline is well crafted. This is the stuff of children's nightmares. Imagine an evil talking pig, or a stupid, yet deadly family of talking bears who dress like country folk and you'll soon realise how freaky this collection is.

Author Bill Willingham cleverly covers his tracks throughout this collection. Every time the story raises a question (like how come no human has ever visited the Farm, or how on earth rabbit's or chickens are supposed to use guns) he gives a satisfactory explanation several pages later.

One of the most original and nightmarish collections I have read for some time.
