this, the second volume of The Obsidian Age, the JLA
go into action to save the people of Atlantis, who have been
enslaved by their own ancestors. But arriving in the ancient
city, the JLA encounter another League, the Destroyers, and
are soon drawn into a battle that it looks like they may not
artwork, and an adequate storyline, help to drag the reader
in to a believable plot. You might even, for a second, be
sucked into thinking that the JLA are doomed. The artwork
is a little too gruesome in places - seeing all you JLA favourites
decaying before your eyes is a little unnerving.
story never takes itself too seriously. Every time Batman
skulks around Plastic Man is never far away to lighten the
mood - although there is a touching Plastic Man moment that
makes you feel sorry for the annoying SOB.
conclusion is a little bit of an anticlimax (especially after
the cliff-hanger that ended book one) but as the conclusion
to the two volume collection it does the job.
