Once he was the legendary enforcer known as the "Angel of Death," but he's become a wanted man in the eyes of Al Capone and his own Irish mob. Michael O'Sullivan has no choice but to go on the run in America's heartland, with his young son at his side - trailed by bounty hunters whose pasts are surprisingly entangled with his...

Sanctuary is the second of three graphic novels which chart the life of Michael O'Sullivan and his son as they try to keep out of the way of the mob and the law. Desperate to avenge the murder of his wife and youngest son, O'Sullivan sets about parting the mob from its money - right under its nose.

Compared to the first book in the series, Sanctuary seems a bit of a let down. Not a great deal happens and a lot of the panels feel like unnecessary padding.

The artwork is great, with a 1920/30s style to it. Also there a some neat stylistic choices too. For example, whenever the world of the mob encroaches on Michael Junior, the artist uses a lot of black that engulfs the character to suggest the unease that he feels.

As I mentioned in my review of the first book, I'd much prefer it if the publisher had released all three books under one cover. When this collection is completed it will have set you back almost £20, which is a little steep.

While this is a good collection, well told, it is just a little too expensive.
