Modesty's partner and friend, Willie Garvin, is kidnapped and drugged to the point of madness by a mysterious organisation, she must use all her wits to save him - and his sanity...

Hell Makers is another interesting addition to the Modesty Blaise collection of graphic novels. This release sees a change in the illustrator from Jim Holdaway to Enric Badia Romero. Personally I prefer Romero's work ever so slightly over Holdaway. While both are fantastic artists, and to be honest the majority of casual observers may not be able to tell the difference, Romero adds that little more depth to his pen work.

There are some pretty clever ideas in this collection. The fake car accident was inspired, as was Modesty's ingenious way of dismounting from a horse and getting the upper hand on an attacker wielding a gun.

This collection also includes Take-Over and The War-Lords of Phoenix, the later of which marks the beginning of Enric Badia Romero's work on the strip. Plus, an introduction by acclaimed crime novelist Max Allan Collins (The Road to Perdition), a gallery of rare Jim Holdaway artwork, and the first part of a hugely detailed interview with Modesty creator Peter O'Donnell.

If you've been collecting this series then this release certainly won't disappoint.
