Sending a baby in a rocket to Earth was not Jor-El's first idea to preserve the doomed planet Krypton... Welcome to Infinite City, a place beyond imagination, where futuristic technology and magic coexist, and where Superman uncovers a piece of his true heritage. But that discovery comes at a great cost - once you journey to Infinite City you can never go home again. The Warden will make sure of that...

Imagine if two drugged-to-the-eyeballs junkies were to sit down and come up with an idea for a Superman story. The resulting trippy experience would, I presume, be not a million miles away from Mike Kennedy and Carlos Meglia's Infinite City.

I can't even begin to imagine how they pitched this story to their publisher, nor how they got the green light to run with it. All I can say is thanks goodness that they did. Infinite City is one of the most original and oddly entertaining Superman stories you'll ever read.

The pairing of Kennedy and Meglia is spot on. Meglia's warped drawings bring out the best in Kennedy's twisted script. Add to this the fact that this hardback edition has about the best glossy paper stock money can buy, and you know you hold in your hand a collection to treasure.

Kennedy's take on the creation of Superman, not to mention what happened to his father, is original, well conceived, and actually quite intelligently worked through.

If Lewis Carroll had written a Superman story it would have been something like this - fantastic.
