When a lethal plague devastates Mega-City Two, leaving the city overrun with mutants and victims, Judge Dredd volunteers to deliver the vaccine that will save the last remaining inhabitants. But first, he and his crew have to get there - 1000 miles across the Cursed Earth, the lethal radioactive wasteland which separates the cities. With cannibals, dinosaurs, mutants and criminals between the Judges and their goal, it's not going to be a smooth journey...

Judge Dredd: The Cursed Earth is yet another beautifully presented graphic novel from Titan Books. Reprinting one of 2000 AD's classic stories.

It features some classic Dredd monsters including Satanus (the offspring of the legendary T-Rex Old One Eye) and General Blood 'N' Nuts and his robot army.

The inclusion of Tweak and the history of his race is intriguing - he was originally captured on another planet by humans. He has had to pretend to be a dumb animal so that the humans don't return to his planet and discover that they are mining precious stones, as part of their food chain.

I only had one serious problem with this book. With the airports in the grip of the plague men Justice Department state there is only one other way to cross the Cursed Earth - by foot. Surely Dredd could have flown to just outside Mega-City Two and walked a few miles? Helicopters can take off and land vertically so it's not like they can claim the Cursed Earth is too rocky to land on.

The artwork doesn't disappoint and, having originally read these stories when the were first published, this graphic novel is a great choice for the casual reader as well as the die-hard Dredd fan.

Titan's best 2000 AD collection so far.
