Fans of Stargate SG-1 can now purchase the entire fourth season as one complete boxset. This collection is basically the six discs that were originally released, but now inserted into a rather attractive cardboard box.

Season four, arguably the best season to date, gets off to a great start with Small Victories - a wonderful Replicator story which neatly concludes the season three cliff hanger Nemesis. Just why Hasbro, or some other toy company, has not introduced Replicator building sets escapes me. These would be perfect Lego-style kits which would be so easy to market.

Guest stars in the fourth season include Star Trek's Rene Auberjonois and Marina Sirtis. And episodes of merit include Window of Opportunity (a Groundhog Day style episode); Tangent - where O'Neill and Teal'c are trapped in a Goa'uld/human hybrid space ship; and 2010 which is set 10 years into the future - remeber these episodes were originally screened back in 2000.

Point of no Return sees the first Martin Lloyd episode (The Trapped) and it wasn't until I viewed this episode this time around that I realised how much the buried space craft looks like a giant toilet with the seat left up. This episode is incredibly funny - poking fun at the anorak brigade. And fans of this episode to know that Martin appears again in season five.

The Curse, while being a fairly good episode, has the problem that some idiot on the DVD creative packaging team decided they would ruin the whole episode by choosing the most inappropriate picture on the DVD sleeve. Ruining a plot twist like this was not just careless, but downright stupid - a bit like printing a copy of Norman Bates dressed up as his mum on the cover of the Psycho DVD. I strongly urge you to tightly close your eyes before removing this disc from the box set.

There are tons of extras including commentaries and actor's video diaries which help to make this collection fantastic value for money. All in all this collection is a must buy for any serious SG-1 fan and the fact that the discs come in at around £10 each is even better news.
