Tom and Jerry have brought pleasure to generations of children and adults. With a winning combination of classic high-octane chases, wild slapstick action, exciting music and visually vibrating colours, their cartoon shorts have inspired laughter and awe for over six decades...

Tom and Jerry make their very first UK outing on DVD, and not before time. However, I couldn't work out why this had been released with a Halloween theme. Firstly it gives it a limited shelf life - i.e. October/November - and secondly there is only one cartoon in the collection that could be classed as having a Halloween theme.

Now I'm not being unreasonable expecting cartoons of a creepy nature. These are not spooky tales, nor is there any supernatural elements to any of the episodes, so why do Warner Home Video try and sell this as such?

Ignore that fact, which seems to be the most bizarre marketing scheme, and the episodes collected here range from average to very good - can there be a bad Tom & Jerry cartoon? Episodes include: Is there a doctor in the mouse?; The flying cat; The missing mouse; Two little Indians; Touché pussy cat; The flying sorceress; and The haunted mouse - which, despite its title, is not a supernatural story.

Extras include: Jerry's Spooky Sprint - menu based game and a look at how to draw Tom and Jerry.

Not a bad collection.
