Season six of The X-Files charts the events after the theatrically released movie and contains some great episodes including the very funny The Rain King and Arcadia, to the experimental How The Ghosts Stole Christmas and Triangle.

The problems with trying to tie this season in with both the movie and the plot development which were left up in the air at the conclusion of season five are obvious and the first episode in this collection tries to address that before merrily moving on with new plot developments. About half way through this season there is a notable shift back to earlier episodes with more shows dedicated to paranormal activities and spooky goings on - events that are investigated in one episode and never mentioned again.

This series also includes arguably the best Lone Gunmen episode (Three of a Kind), asks whether mankind originally came from Mars and further investigates the black oil phenomenon.

This collection contains the usual bunch of extras including The Truth About Season Six documentary, a behind the scenes featurette, deleted scenes with optional commentary by Frank Spotnitz and special effects sequences with commentary by Paul Rabwin. There is also a character profile on the Cigarette Smoking Man; 44 promotional television spots and a DVD-ROM game based on Dreamland.

Not the finest season to date, but certainly one worth taking a look at.
