Romeo & Juliet, the world's greatest love story has been honoured with so many scores - my favourite is from Prokofiev's ballet. Nino Rota's score for the late 60's movie will probably be more well known to the less educated as the Our song theme from Simon Bates Radio One show.

This version of the soundtrack claims to be the first digital recording of the entire movie score to have been made available to the buying public. As Nino Rota's original score manuscript seems to have been lost the whole score has been slowly constructed by ear from watching the original movie. The conductor also studied the movie to gain more of a feeling for how the piece should be performed.

The result is a wonderfully moving soundtrack which captures the original score about as closely as you can get. Yet again Silva Screen are behind a masterpiece (I remember purchasing their wonderful Raiders of the Lost soundtrack a few years ago which has around an extra 20 or 30 minutes of music compared to the original soundtrack released in the early 80s.

If you are a lover of classic soundtracks, or great romantic mood music, then this album will suit you to the ground.
