Successful fashion designer Ava Gregory gives up her career to bring up her three orphaned nephews who have to adjust to a life on the sun kissed beaches of California after being brought up on a remote Kansas farm. This soundtrack provides a perfect companion to the series, and contains a distinctive mix of music ranging from the surging punk-pop of A New Found Glory to the teen heartthrob charms of Jesse McCartney...

The soundtrack to Summerland is an odd beast, in as much that there's almost something here for every music taste (with the exception of opera, death metal, choral, and barbershop quartet fanatics). The album starts off with Bowling For Soup's catchy Undertow.

All Downhill From Here by A New Found Glory (who sound a lot like Busted) is your typical teen band offering, Lisa Loeb's Try is a fantastic ballad, and brings the beat down for a few minutes, before Kenny Wayne Shepherd's Alive cranks up the electric guitars for some good old fashioned head banging rock. Jesse McCartney's Get Your Shine On is like a jazzed up '70s disco tune (which is actually a lot better than I've made it sound).

This is certainly an album that makes you want to get up and dance - which is incredibly rare for me these days. And for that fact alone, this is a must own album.

It's a shame that there isn't a longer version of Steve Plunkett's theme, as it's a pretty catchy tune that lasts for less than a minute.

This is a fantastic middle of the road album that will appeal to Summerland fans as well as anyone who wants a collection of good music from obscure bands.
